I really like the ESV translation for this chapter. Having compared several, it
|
|
|
|
|
best captures the difference between Zecharaiah's and Mary's (_v. 34_) response
|
|
|
|
|
to an angelic visitiation. "How shall I know this?" said Zechariah. "How will
|
|
|
|
|
this be?" said Mary. Both knew that it was impossible for them to have children
|
|
|
|
|
in their current situations, but one responded with doubt and arrogant
|
|
|
|
|
skepticism and the other with curiousity that expected the angel's words to be
|
|
|
|
|
true.
